Whatever the stylistic
considerations, the CJO’s mission remains the same:
to present quality performances of rarely-performed jazz masterpieces
in an entertaining, innovative and informative way. Another
essential ingredient of CJO’s performances is to preserve
the joy, optimism and energy inherent in earlier forms of
jazz and to make these forms accessible to modern audiences
without dumbing-down.
We
don’t actually have a motto, but if we had, it might
read: “Like a good wine, the CJO combines the subtlety
and complexity of age, while retaining the vigour and energy
of youth.”
