In concert with US trumpeter Duke Heitger celebrating the music of Louis Armstrong. This concert also doubles as the launch of our new CD on Lake Records, Celebrating Satchmo, which we recorded with Duke Heitger in 2008, but which, thank to the recession, is only now seeing the light of day. It's a belter of an album: material drawn from every era of Armstrong's long career, brand new arrangements, the CJO in storming form and Duke blowing his (and everyone else's) socks off!/

Our previous concerts with Alan of the Benny Carter Project have had 5-star reviews, so we must be doing something right! We're going into the studio with Alan to record the project while he's here to play this date and we'll be recording some new material (including Benny's Glasgow Suite, specially written for the 1987 inaugural Glasgow International Jazz Festival) which we'll also play at this concert. So if you've liked any of our previous concerts with Alan, don't miss this opportunity to hear one of Carter's late works which he never got round to recording himself.
